In December 2006, Coway formed a partnership with Seoul National University (SNU), a top ranking university in Korea, to further develop innovative products utilizing both industry and academic knowledge. From this year through 2022, Coway will provide KRW 500 million (USD 537,000) annually to fund research projects through this partnership. Professors and students will have opportunities to participate in a variety of projects on subjects including human sensory ergonomics and robotics technology.
This December, Coway is planning to merge its current three R&D centers into its new R&D institute. With all three centers under one roof, Coway will be able to develop even more innovative products for customers. Last year, Coway invested approximately KRW 63.1 billion (USD 67.8 million) in R&D, almost doubling their prior year's total of KRW 32 billion (USD 34.4 million).
